Continuing our look at recent LEGO Ideas projects to achieve 10,000 supporters and qualify for the First 2020 LEGO Ideas Review, our next project is Futurama Planet Express Headquarter, Spaceship and the Crew by ThomasW.

Personally, I’m not familiar with the Futurama television series but this set has a great design and is packed with playable features. Within the main building, the globe opens to reveal the laboratory of Prof. Fransworth. Also, the globe and the canopy can be removed to provide access to the entrance. In the hanger, the roof folds open and the back wall can be removed to provide access to the interior. The hanger is large enough to store the spaceship inside.

The LEGO set proposal also includes many characters from the Futurama television series, including Fry, Bender, Leela, Amy and Prof. Fransworth.

“Futurama Planet Express Headquarter, Spaceship and the Crew” is the second LEGO Ideas project from ThomasW to achieve 10,000 supporters. ThomasW also earned the distinction with Lego Observatory – Mountain View during the Second 2016 LEGO Ideas Review. That project was unfortunately not approved, losing out to “Women of NASA”. A second project from that review, “Voltron, Defender of the Universe”, was held for further consideration and ultimately approved at a later time.
It’s worth noting that another LEGO Ideas set based on the Futurama television series, Planet Express Delivery Ship, is currently under consideration for the Third 2019 LEGO Ideas Review.
“Futurama Planet Express Headquarter, Spaceship and the Crew” is one of an unprecedented 26 projects to qualify for the First 2020 LEGO Ideas Review. You can view all of the projects that have qualified for the review on the Ideas page of the BrickGeekz Blog. You can also read our blog post on the 12 projects that are currently under consideration for the Third 2019 LEGO Ideas Review.
Results of both LEGO Ideas reviews will be announced later this year.
