“The Iron Giant – 20th Anniversary Edition” Achieves 10,000 Supporters on LEGO Ideas

"The Iron Giant - 25th Anniversary Edition" is one of an unprecedented 25 projects to qualify for the First 2020 LEGO Ideas Review.

This weekend we’re catching up on the most recent LEGO Ideas projects to achieve 10,000 supporters and qualify for the First 2020 LEGO Ideas Review. First up is The Iron Giant – 20th Anniversary Edition by BrettCuv. This project received a surge of support votes in recent weeks to reach 10,000 supporter goal with just a few weeks to spare.

According to the LEGO Ideas proposal, “The Iron Giant stands roughly ten minifigures tall, and comes with interchangeable eyes to express a range of emotions, an ‘S’ sign for his chest, and weaponry to depict his evil state from the movie. The entire build consists of around 1,000 pieces, including the Giant, minifigures, and accessories. The Giant’s head rotates and tilts, and his arms, legs, wrists, hips, and ankles are all articulated to both accommodate his size and weight, and allow him to replicate classic poses from the movie.”

The project proposal also includes 4 minifigures from the movie: Hogarth Hughes with his helmet and toy rifle, Annie Hughes and a coffee pot, Kent Mansley and his fedora, and Dean McCoppin with a coffee cup.

This is the second time this project has qualified for a LEGO Ideas Review. It previously qualified for the Third 2016 LEGO Ideas review but lost out to “Ship in a Bottle.”

“The Iron Giant – 20th Anniversary Edition” is one of an unprecedented 25 projects to qualify for the First 2020 LEGO Ideas Review. You can view all of the projects that have qualified for the review on the Ideas page of the BrickGeekz Blog. You can also read our blog post on the 12 projects that are currently under consideration for the Third 2019 LEGO Ideas Review.

Results of both LEGO Ideas reviews will be announced later this year.
