I’ve been writing a lot of “10,000 Supporter” posts lately on the BrickGeekz Blog, including 3 in the last week, but as they say on radio, the hits just keep on coming.

The latest entry in the First 2020 LEGO Ideas Review is Spongebob Squarepants – The Krusty Krab by ExeSandbox. This design checks in just under the LEGO Ideas part limit with 2996 pieces. It includes a detailed recreation of the Krusty Krab restaurant with a fully designed exterior and interior, including the kitchen, office, and bathroom. The set proposal also includes a removable roof to allow for complete access to the interior.

LEGO already ran a Spongebob Squarepants theme from 2006 to 2012, but the new LEGO Ideas submission by ExeSandbox achieved the required 10,000 supporters in just about 6 weeks. So it’s obvious that the interest and support is out there for more Spongebob Squarepants sets.

Spongebob Squarepants – The Krusty Krab joins a crowded field of 19 qualifiers in the First 2020 LEGO Ideas Review. You can view all of the projects that have already qualified for the review on the Ideas page of the BrickGeekz Blog. You can also read our blog post on the 12 projects that are currently under consideration for the Third 2019 LEGO Ideas Review.
Results of both LEGO Ideas reviews will be announced later this year.
