LEGO announced the release of the latest LEGO Ideas set today, the 864-piece International Space Station. The set includes the including the space station plus a microscale NASA space shuttle, three cargo spacecraft, and two astronaut microfigures. It also includes eight adjustable solar panels, a posable Canadarm2 robotic arm, and a display stand. It will retail for $69.99 (€69,99).
This set was originally submitted by fan designer Christoph Ruge, aka XCLD, on the LEGO Ideas website in October 2017. It gained the 10,000 supporters needed to qualify for the LEGO Ideas review but was not approved for production.
The International Space Station gained a second chance at life when it was one of four sets chosen in summer 2019 for a special 10th anniversary competition. It overwhelmingly won with 45% of the vote and was approved for production.
The set will be available at LEGO stores and online at www.lego.com starting on February 1.
